Melodious Like Thelonious

fuckyeahbonovox:

Happy Birthday Bono (52) and Jordan (23)!

“Jordan was born on my birthday, May 10th, 1989. What a great gift she has turned out to be.

We are very close, Jordan and I. Everything changed for me when she was born. Everything. You understand why wars are fought, you understand why men want to own land, you understand why women are so smart, because they have to be. They have to deal with so much more stuff than we do. I was left in awe of women. It really did turn my life upside-down.”

My Top 10 Random Filipino Music Moments of 2011

rosarioko:

I must say it was pretty difficult to decide on which ones since there are so many wonderful moments that always happen when you’re surrounded by great musicians. I wanted to do an EVERYTHING Highlight of 2011, but decided to just separate them all into different categories, and the easiest for me to pick were the random ones.

These are my personal choices, based on how each event affected me. I’m sure each one of us have our own highlights, but these are the ones which are relevant to me and which I saw with my own eyes.

September 29, 2005 | BAMBOO

rosarioko:

What you’re about to read was written by the 22-year old version of me in my old blog in Livejournal. I think, if you see most entries about Bamboo in this blog, I really give myself away and STOP being professional and start becoming a gushing fan, which I think would make me lose any possibility of working with him (yes, i’ve said that so many times). Also the fact that sometimes I lose so much sense in my sentences because of too much excitement.

I guess you can say it’s an “artistic crush” like how Quentin Tarantino usually refers to it.

Last night during Bamboo’s first performance in the Philippines in front of almost 80,000 people, I remembered that fan in me when I first started working in music and realized that the reason why I am here, is because of people like him.

I saw him the night before they announced the band was breaking up at Mark Escueta’s birthday party. I didn’t understand the meaning of ‘It’s not goodbye’, but last night with an orchestra and awesome musicians to back him up, I saw him perform here for the first time since.

As a photographer, selecting photos require a sense of detachment for you to be able to choose what photographs you get to show the world. To be honest, I am having trouble choosing. I am human after all and a music fan at that, sometimes a little too much. Sometimes maybe I can be a little creepy sounding, but I know what fans feel and every single time I see Bamboo I am reminded of my beginnings as an artist who works for music and I don’t think it’ll ever go away.

Now let’s travel back in time with an entry I wrote 6 years ago….

Ebe Dancel’s MYX Live Taping

rosarioko:

This is actually my second time to take photos of MYX Live. The first one was when by some strange fate I ended up in ABS-CBN and it was Rico Blanco’s taping to promote his new album then. That performance won BEST MYX LIVE Performance at the MYX Music Awards.

This time around it’s for Ebe Dancel’s new album “Dalawang Mukha ng Pag-ibig”. I hope it wins and it gets nominated so at least I can say I have photos of that performance, hehe.  Once again when he sang, “Paalam Kahapon”, I don’t know what happens to me when that song is played, but I had to put down my camera again just like the last time during his album launch… and just watch…

Anyway, I was ambushed again by MYX for an interview on Music Photography, haha. I think it’s coming out on http://www.myxph.com including the rest of the performance photos.

HALUUUU
